I love noodles. When I was three years old my parents gave me Chinese noodles and I ate so much I threw up :) thatā€™s when I got trauma bonded to them and theyā€™ve been a central part of my life ever since. Enjoy!

5/5

Yunnanā€™s rice noodles sour soup (äŗ‘南é…ø걤ē±³ēŗæ) from Yunnan restaurant
This is one of my very favourite dishes ever! Itā€™s made with three different types of tomatoes, lemon, enoki mushrooms, rice noodles, tofu skin, tofu, cabbage, coriander and thinly chopped spring onion. Itā€™s just the best thing ever. I donā€™t think I ever ordered anything else from this restaurant because I fully know no dish will ever top this
Hot chili oil noodles (ę²¹ę³¼é¢) from Chinatown restaurant
I had a phase when I just wanted to go to Chinatown to eat this. It looks super spicy, but it really isnā€™t. I assume the red powder is actual chili powder, but honestly it almost tastes like paprika. The noodles are spicy though, but thatā€™s because of the chili oil

Scallion oil noodles (č‘±ę²¹ę‹Œé¢) from Chinatown restaurant
Before the hot chili oil noodles phase I had a scallion oil noodles phase. These might look less appetising than the others, but theyā€™re truly one of the best things I ever ate. Theyā€™re not spicy, just very fragrant. They have a sweet aftertaste, which I guess is not for everyone, but I love it
Re gan mian (ēƒå¹²é¢) from Chinatown restaurant
This is a recipe from Wuhan. The sauce is made with peanut butter, chili oil, and, I suspect, something similar to chili oil beancurd which is one of the most addictive ingredients on the planet. They also put full Sichuan peppercorns and peanuts in it

Buldak ramen - kimchi flavour (red)
Iā€™m kind of obsessed with buldak ramen, and this flavour and the jjajiang one are my favourites. I try not to eat too many or I have to go to the shop too soon to buy more and I always feel paranoid about the cashier judging me for how many buldak ramen I get since I watched a Chinese drama and a guy walked into a girlā€™s room who recently became poor, saw a packet of instant ramen on her desk and a sad music started playing
Buldak ramen - jjajang (green)
This is like a casual zhajiang mian flavour + buldak flavour, which is great. Zhajiang mian are a gift from the gods and so are buldak ramen. So this is like two gifts from the heavens combined in one :)

Ottogi Beijing jjajang ramen
I think this is the best instant noodle version of the "real" zhajiang mian

4/5

ā€œDan danā€ noodles from my Chinese professorā€™s favourite restaurant
Canā€™t remember how they called them on the menu, I believe theyā€™re just dan dan noodles, or anyway they tasted like it. Theyā€™re good, but they put way too much garlic, which was great but it made me unable to speak to people for the next 48 hours. They used a weird ingredient that tasted like anchovy paste, but the dish didnā€™t contain fish, so I donā€™t know what that was
Taiwanese liang mian from Taiwanese restaurant
Ok these were great, but they had a weird... hazelnut icecream aftertaste? Thatā€™s the best way I can describe it. In one second I got nuked back to when I was 6 years old, wrapped in a towel, in a post 3 hours nonstop swimming session catharsis, eating an icecream sandwich on the beach. Odd, but not necessarily gross

vegan shrimp ramen from Japanese restaurant
the valerian was an odd choice, and it was slightly too salty and it might have made me wake up 5 times during the night to chug down like 5 litres of water, but besides from that it was actually amazing. Still thinking about those mushrooms. We ordered everything on an ipad woohoo
Buldak ramen - carbonara (pink)
Some Italians hate when ā€œunculturedā€ foreigners butcher their secular recipes, I love it. These donā€™t taste like a carbonara obviously, but honestly theyā€™re just as good. Buldak carbonara ramen are on the same level as authentic Roman carbonara, Iā€™ll die on this hill (actually I wonā€™t, Iā€™m not that brave to say that to people irl)

Buldak ramen - cheese (yellow)
Very good. Theyā€™re for when you donā€™t wanna lacrimate while eating dinner
(is that a ā‚¬13 Doraemon ceramic bowl? Yeah. It is ^_^)
veggie ramen from expensive Japanese restaurant
I never tried tonkotsu ramen but I feel like they were trying to recreate that flavour for these ramen. They were really good, but they had a bitter aftertaste I didnā€™t really enjoy. You know when thereā€™s too much miso or earthy mushrooms and it goes from amazing to too bitter? I had this same dish like three times, and the bitterness was always there. Besides that, itā€™s a solid 4/5

spaghetti with store bought mushroom sauce
I love this sauce so much. Itā€™s my go-to depression dish. Pictured with spaghetti, I like it best with tiny pasta
Buldak ramen - 2x spicy chicken flavour
A bit confused as on why theyā€™re ā€œ2x spicyā€, because I canā€™t feel the difference, but theyā€™re great. I consider them the plain/original buldak flavour

homemade dandan noodles
kinda weird to add my own dish to this list, but I eat this way too many times not to
Unif Beef & Sauerkraut Flavour Noodles
I used to eat a lot of these, then I got tired of soupy ramen. I still eat them from time to time, and I really like to add soft tofu to them. Nongshim Soon veggie ramen and these ones the only type of soup ramen I buy

Nongshim Soon veggie ramen
Very spicy & very good
I think these are Paldo stirfried kimchi ramen
I ate them once ages ago and never found them in the stores again. I think they were really really good, but I can't really remember anymore :'(

3/5

Paldo jajjang men
Good, but they have a bitter aftertaste I donā€™t like
dan dan noodles from fancy Chinese restaurant
I have a strong preference for a dandan sauce that doesnā€™t have a lot of sesame paste in it, and this one had a lot, so it was pretty bitter. But in general it was good

Chinese fake crab spicy ramen
I think these are actually a weird Chinese buldak off-brand. I thought these were my new favourite ramen the first two times I tried them, but then I suddenly got bored. And no, they donā€™t taste like crab, itā€™s the green dried herbs that kind of taste like a seafood dish seasoning
Itsuki Hokkaido yuzu ramen
I was so excited when I saw yuzu shio ramen, but they were extremely bland. Not bad, just bland. I wanted to cry and pour a can of Fanta in my bowl just to feel something

Buldak ramen - curry
Confusing. I didnā€™t like them the first time I tried them, then I saw them in a shop and bought them again, idk why. Turns out theyā€™re ok. I guess itā€™s just hard for me to comprehend curry noodles as a concept. Iā€™ve never seen anyone/any brand using curry outside of Indian cuisine, but Buldak isnā€™t a brand from my personal European-Chinese hemisphere, so it makes sense
Jin ramen - veggie (expired)
I appreciate shops giving out free items that just expired. However, this ramen was not only just expired, but it also looked like it stayed in a humid place for a long time. I ate half of it and then I felt like I had 1kg of cement in my stomach, so I threw it away. The taste was ok though. I'll buy it again to try the edible version, for now it's a 3/5

2/5

Liang fen from Chinese restaurant
Tasted unbalanced to me, but canā€™t put my finger on what was wrong

1/5

veggie ramen from somewhat fancy Japanese restaurant
The big slabs of raw peppers were completely random, as if I wanna snack on a pepper stick while eating ramen? The mushrooms on the right were great. The whole thing was sad. Not giving 0/5 solely because of the mushrooms. ps. those pumpkin croquettes on the left though were incredible :')
Buldak ramen - hot chicken flavour
No idea why, but these ones make me kinda nauseous?

0/5

veggie ramen from Chinatown Japanese restaurant
I genuinely do not understand why would anyone add romaine to ramen. The muā€™er mushrooms were also too many and the whole thing tasted very bland, like something youā€™d eat when youā€™re sick. I tried to add more of that hot sesame concoction you see on top to no avail. It was like boiled ramen with raw veggies in 2 litres of water. I ate the whole thing and had to pee twice
"fancy" Chinese instant noodles
these were on clearance, and the original price was actually somewhat high for instant noodles. I always saw this type in the shops and wondered how spending 5 euros for instant ramen felt like, so since they had a normal price for the first time I went for it. Wish I didnā€™t. The sauce was actually way more than all the other noodles I tried, and the noodles themselves seemed to be of a somewhat decent quality, but the taste was way off. It tasted like liquorice, medicine, and ēŽ‹č€å‰ (Chinese herbal soda). I had to throw them away
